What To Expect From Prime Contracting

On a small scale, most people are aware that any type of improvement to a property involves rallying the right specialists and coordinating work to take place to fit a tight schedule. This often involves a lot of trust and a belief that all the work will be done on time, within budget, to the best of abilities and to the highest standards for the specified outcome. What happens though, if your budget is about 2 billion GBP and you are the Ministry of Defence? The need for high quality and affordable improvement mixed with respect for the sensitive nature of the work to be carried out can only be managed one way; through prime contracting.

Traditionally, the MoD have entrusted all the maintenance and building work that needs to be done to individual contractors, which prior to legislation change in 1997 totalled around 800 for the year. The need to save money and to create some form of cohesive team that understood that the ‘soft issues’ of culture, creativity and innovation were just as important as more concrete variables such as cost and quality, commonly labelled as ‘hard issues’. The aim was to bring development practice within MoD development to ratio of 60 to 40 of hard issues against soft issues and a ratio of 80 to 20 for quality against price. This reflected a change in attitude and direction within the industry, where the emphasis was no longer on creating a to-do list for contractors, and instead creating a contract whereby the terms of agreement were based on output specification. This was only achievable by selecting one prime contractor.

It was hoped that this move would save the Mod in the region of 500 million GBP and create a more secure system for getting essential work done. It does seem that in these times of heightened security that it makes sense to only have one contracting body coordinating work that has the potential to be politically sensitive. The ratios stipulated also reflect the desire for work to be carried out in accordance with the soft issues that are of importance rather than just drawing up plans that would get the work done quickly and cheaply. The main principles involved in prime contracting involve the coordination and collaboration of sub contractors that are working for a united goal.

The process of output specification by way of determining a contract ensures that the end result is clear, and it is then the job of the prime contracting company to ensure that it is achieved according to the directives set out in the legislation, aiming for the specified ratio balance. When drawing up the collaborative plans, the prime contractor has to produce a bespoke plan that is sensitive to MoD protocol and makes judgements on costing after the technical capabilities and issues of sensitivity have been dealt with.

Ultimately, the benefits of using a prime contractor to carry out the work means that the MoD can explain what they want and then let the contractor deal with the rest. The contract will basically agree to cover all the elements that are requested, including health and safety, design, development, facilities management, portfolio production et al to deliver a service that has every aspect covered from beginning to end in a single package. The damage limitation of this type of contract is enormous, not only in terms of security, but in functionability, something that was difficult for the MoD to manage under the former process.

Avon Rep. Questions And Answers That Work!

Have you been thinking of selling Avon to make some extra money, but have many unanswered questions holding you back from trying? I have tried to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions from new Independent Avon representatives I help sign up.
The first question normally is, “How much money can I make selling Avon?” Below is the potential earnings for Avon reps. As a NEW Avon Rep you make 40% off your first 4 campaigns(about 2 months time) if the orders are $50 or larger and you submit them online. After that here is what Avon Reps can make:
Order Size Earnings
$1550 or more 50%
$900 – $1549 45%
$425- $899 40%
$285 – $424 35%
$145- $284 30%
$25 – $144 20%
$00 – $24 0%
Licensed products are earned at 20% commission.(like clothing or household goods)
It’s a simple formula, the more Avon we sell, the more money we can make as the percentage we receive increases as our order dollar amount does. We place our orders online and Avon ships it to us in about 2 business days after our Order Submission deadline. We have to do the tedious work of opening the box(s), checking to see if everything is there, putting the orders together and then delivering the Avon to our customers.
There are some expenses for us Avon Reps. For example we do buy the Avon brochures we leave with people. Avon brochures come in packs of 10 and they do get cheaper per copy the more we buy.

Pack# BrochuresCost Each Total
110 brochures$.59$5.90
220 brochures$.41$8.20
330 brochures$.35$10.50
440 brochures$.311$12.45
550 brochures$.268$13.40
660 brochures$.245$14.70
770 brochures$.227$15.90
880 brochures$.216$17.25
990 brochures$.205$18.45
10100 brochures$.195$19.55

11 or more packs: $19.55 (for first 10 packs)
+ $1.35 for each additional pack

I know may Avon Reps who regularly buy 100 Avon brochures per campaign, personally I buy on average 30 Avon brochures per campaign as I don’t like to have any left over or have the time to find more places and people to leave them with. Personally I don’t get to worked up about buying the Avon brochures since I look at this an a business and every business has expenses(plus they are a tax deduction!). The best approach to buying the Avon brochures that I have ever heard of is to think of them as your “Store”. How many business only pay $20 a month for their space?
Avon has selling campaigns and each last about 2 weeks. At the end of each campaign we submit our orders online, we can submit more than one order per campaign, but it will cost $7 dollars extra. We can also submit our orders over the phone, but that also will cost extra and takes longer. Normally we receive our orders 2 business days after our submission deadline and have about a week and a half to deliver the product, leave the current campaign Avon brochures and pay our Avon bill before we have to submit our next order. If we submit our orders according to the schedule for our Avon District we only pay a small processing fee of $2.50 for our order.

We also buy the Avon bags we deliver the products in(you don’t have to use these bags) There are a few sizes to choose from:
1)Paper Delivery Bags – 2-lb. Size Pk. 50/$0.95(these are tiny)
2)Paper Delivery Bags – 10-lb. Size Pk. 50/$1.25(I use these mostly, see picture)
3)Paper Delivery Bags – 20-lb. Size Pk. 50/$1.95
4)Paper Delivery Bags – Carry-All Bags Pk. 5/$1.25
5)Paper Delivery Bags – Tote Bag Pk. 10/$1.75 (these are nice)

The Avon bags are nice to use since they say Avon on them and give you a bit more of a professional look and they are not expensive. The first 3 types are simple white paper bags with Avon printed on them. The last 2 are bigger and have loop handles and also say Avon on the side, both are nicer than the white ones.

We can buy samples of Avon products if we like and many do. I rarely buy samples and normally only get samples of colognes or perfumes. I figure my customers know what they want and will order it or request a sample to try something. At times I will buy extra product to sell to whomever, but do not stock product of any kind like some Avon reps like to do as I don’t want to! You can do parties, fundraisers, get a booth at a local festival and the like to promote your Avon business.

As Avon representative we can also have an online store or be an eRep. We can only sell Avon online using the eStore from Avon and it cost about $15 a month, although for some time they have been waving the fee for new Reps or if we have a purchase during a given campaign. eBay is a no no for Avon Reps, but Craigs List is ok. We also can’t use pay per click advertising.

New Avon Reps often want to know how to sell Avon and where to find new customers and that only makes sens. The truth is customers are everywhere. People are SEARCHING for Avon Reps, so you need to make it easier for them to find you.

Here is a list of places to find customers to help you sell Avon:

1. Post flyers in apartment buildings(you can print them from Avon”s website for reps)
2. Leave Avon books at auto repair centers.Usually there is a boring little sitting area.
3. Wear a badge and/or buttons telling people who you are, like Avon Representative.
4. Approach bake sales with an Avon fundraiser.
5. Let your bank know what your deposit is for, and give her an Avon catalog!
6. Barter/Trade your Avon products or service.
7. Hang an Avon flyer inside a bathroom stall door. Captivate your audience! LOL
8. Bring an Avon catalog to a beauty salon.
9.Use bumper stickers.
10. Let EVERYONE know you sell Avon!
11. Make it a goal to hand out a certain number of business cards, or catalogs per day.
12. Free lunch drawings, put your Avon business cards in the fish bowl sat restaurants.
13. Get a restaurant to sponsor YOUR drawing!
14. Magnetize your Avon business card.
15. Use your card as a bookmark in the library books. Leave them in the books you return.
16. Instead of tear flyers, use your Avon business card at the bottom of the flyer.
17. Hang a sign on your car window that says AVON! Include your phone number
18. Fundraiser Car Washes- Stop in and tell them of your fundraiser ideas.
19. Put Avon catalogs in all waiting rooms.
20. Join a club or network group. Let them see you regularly.(thus building trust)
21. Leave Avon books in businesses you go to often.
22. Look on the internet for new bulletin boards to post your Avon info
23. Where ever the moms usually are!
24. Former business associates.
25. Go to garage sales. Give them flyers to hand out for you. Offer an incentive for them to do this for you!
26. Wear your Avon name tag to as many places as you can.(grocery stores)
27. Home shows
28. Home Owners Associations- Put an ad in their paper!
29. College newspapers and bulletin boards
30. Do cross-promotions with other businesses.

Don’t limit yourself to just friends and family, unless you want to. Think of where people are and go get them! Some Reps set up at local events to sell product, find new customers and sign up new Avon reps.

Keep in mind that Avon is a MLM(Multi Level Marketing)company and we can receive bonus checks from Avon based on the sales of our downline or the people we signed up to sell Avon. This can take some time to grow, but is worth the effort. You can start to receive bonus checks when you have an active downline of at least 5 Avon Reps and as a group all 6 of you sell $1200 or more of product in a campaign(that’s only $200 worth of sales per person) You would become a Unit leader and receive your bonus checks. To remain a Unit leader you must always have at least 5 Reps in your downline and have personal sales of $250 or more per campaign. As your downline grows and you reach higher levels of Leadership, you bonus check become larger, but you also have to have higher personal sales.

To be honest, selling anything isn’t for everyone. However, everyone knows Avon, so it’s not like you are selling something no one has ever heard of or know nothing about. I’m a guy and I sell mostly to Hispanics who speak very little or no English and I don’t speak a lot of Spanish. That just goes to show that Avon in many ways sells itself and the Avon brochures are a great mobile store!

Since the start up cost is only $10 face to face or $20 online you are risking very little money and will likely earn that back by your second campaign. The sign up cost covers the price of the start up kit and the postage for Avon to send it to you(if you sign up online). This is the same kit everyone gets at first and it contains 20 Avon books(enough for your first 2 campaigns), a receipt book , an Avon bag and some instructional booklets. You will also receive information of whom you can contact locally for help and support if you sign up online.
You can also sign up to be Avon Representatives just to get your Avon at a discount if you want. I know a few who did that and ended up getting a few customers as their friends and family find out they sell Avon and they make enough off them to basically get their Avon free!

I may not have answered all your questions, but I hope I answered most of them.

Vincent Black Lightning – Lyrics That Tell Us What We’re Not

Here’s a deceptively straightforward question: What makes “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” such an incredible song?

My association with Richard Thompson’s most-popular harmony has for ever and a day been an uneasy lone. I love it, but I don’t know why. On a passive take note, it seems like a reasonably lifeless, theatrical love ballad. Now a word, it’s unpleasant. Yet I can’t take note to it lacking the stake of my chin quivering.

For years, lacking having devoted much philosophy to the be of importance, I offhandedly assumed its old-world Irish vibe specifically gave it a romanticism with the aim of resonated with me (yes, Richard Thompson is British; but the song feels Irish). Half the blood in me can be traced back to Ireland…But I need exit back solitary as far as the dead ’70s to tap memories of drunken relatives singing “Danny Boy” or “Harrigan” or various such folk song. Anytime I hear a Celtic-sounding guitar or the flitty whirr of bagpipes, I well up by reflex. Mix in lyrics vis-0-vis star-crossed lovers and a babies man’s death, and you state an actual recipe in lieu of drawing the melancholy old hat of me — whether the art snob in me likes it or not.

But the song is much, much more than with the aim of.

For folks of you who don’t know the song or its tale, I’ll fail you the synopsis:

Girl (Red Molly) meets Boy (James) once she notices his cool bike (a 1952 Vincent Black Lightning) > Some unsaid courtship happens > Boy proposes wedding ceremony to Girl, but discloses to her in earnest: “I’m a perilous man / in lieu of I fought with the law since I was 17, / I robbed many a man to develop my Vincent system. / Now I’m 21 years, I might cause 22, / and I don’t mind dying but in lieu of the love of you.” > They marry > Boy gets shot all through a break-in > On his deathbed, Boy sums up his existence: “In my view, there’s nothing in this humankind / beats a 52 Vincent and a red-headed girl” > Boy dies, but not in the past handing the keys to his prized bike to Girl/Wife.

On the plane, it’s a ridiculously straightforward story that’s weighed down with questionable morality. James is an obstinate criminal, in lieu of lone device. If he robbed in lieu of various proven determination — like food or rent, or even a definite desperately wanted bike — with the aim of would be lone device. But nobody of these are the container. At the start of the song, James already has his bike. And by the back verse, he has his girl, too. These are the solitary two things with the aim of be of importance to him. So why, if he accurately loved Red Molly, would he not adjustment his ways so with the aim of they may well state a life composed?

Because his one-dimensional existence is exactly could you repeat that? She loves vis-0-vis him. And by lean-to, it’s could you repeat that? We love vis-0-vis him, too — for the reason that he’s everything we are not.

James is a sort of Nietzschian bermensch (“Superman”). He has rebuff be afraid of of bother or death. He has rebuff kids to lose sleep in lieu of. He by no means stresses on top of money. He suffers rebuff regret. And he certainly doesn’t envy someone else’s probably greener grass.

James is who he is.

Now, I understand how underwhelming with the aim of sounds. So could you repeat that?, accurate? Each lone of us is who he is, accurate? Wrong. We are all, both of us, someone to boot. And nobody of us really knows who.

The renowned documentary filmmaker Errol Morris was on one occasion asked vis-0-vis the interview process. Specifically, he was asked why he thought family were willing to unlocked up and have a word honestly to a camera. “I’m not all right we accurately state privileged access to our own minds,” he whispered. “I don’t think we state whichever view who we are…We’re engaged in a constant battle to chart old hat who we are.” The interview process, he believes, is a funds by which various portion of with the aim of access may possibly be granted. Like deliberation or analysis, it’s a process of isolating by hand from the outside humankind — and the nonstop assault of stimuli it projects — to assent to the white din become lighter…And followed by take note to what’s missing. The truth.

But even in lieu of folks of us who can develop near, individual truths are solitary glimpsed in moments: The profound think, the Freudian slip, the breakthrough on your analyst’s couch.

I remember the night I originator heard “1952 Vincent Black Lightning.” I was sitting by the prohibit in the Khyber, abandoned, waiting in lieu of my lonesome T. My reminiscence of this stands old hat in lieu of two reasons. First, in the lead earshot this song I’d by no means heard in the past, I had the evident suspicion I’d proven it all my life. The feeling was consoling and queer by the same stretch.

The back device I remember continues to embarrass me to this generation.

T. Was dead. The opening group was vis-0-vis to exit on. New and more hipsters were on the edge into the place and congregating in little groups. My self-consciousness ongoing to build. I felt like a pariah sitting near by myself. (The brown by the jukebox with the tarantula tattoo, is she giggling to her lonesome vis-0-vis me?) I couldn’t take it. So I looked down the far stop of the prohibit, as if I adage someone I knew down near, and leaning my eyes up as if to say, “Hey!” I even lifted my goblet and air-toasted the unnoticed man. It was pathetic. I couldn’t simply sit near, my nothing short of lone self, and hold your horses in lieu of my lonesome. No. To dodge the secret scornful of strangers (which probably wasn’t even happening), I had to feign like someone to boot — a cooler, more-social version of myself, a version who ran into random acquaintances wherever I went.

Erroll Morris argues with the aim of we can’t accurately know ourselves. But the harsher truth is, we can’t even be sincere to who we think we are. That alternate version of Greg I adopted by the Khyber: I did with the aim of in lieu of strangers. And I’m certainly not abandoned; we’ve all ended something like this, and not specifically under the tension of an uncomforable social condition. We extract old hat separate versions of ourselves in separate day-to-day contexts. Which you are you once you’re with your boss? Your father? Your priest? Your most-successful lonesome?

The originator good genuineness of Buddhism is: Life is agony. The back is: The origin of agony is attachment. Maybe the complexities of existence can be cut-rate to folks two straightforward statements. Each of us has attachments. We’re attached to could you repeat that? We love, could you repeat that? We be afraid of, could you repeat that? We get back inspiring, could you repeat that? We get back boring, could you repeat that? We feel is accurate, could you repeat that? We feel is wound, and on and on.

James is the opposite of us. He does not suffer, even subsequent to a shotgun blast to his chest. For James has managed to complete could you repeat that? We, as well-rounded real-life humans, cannot: He’s avoided all the frills and obligations and existential weights of the humankind (save in lieu of two: His bike and his red-headed girl). He even owns his own unique sight of death: “angels and ariels in leather and chrome / swooping down from Heaven to lug [him] home” — as if it’s almost charming to him; you can picture him smiling as the illumination exit old hat.

The richest irony is with the aim of, solitary through attachment can we link with James. Through our attachment to song and lyrics — to the secretive art of composition — we can embody his flawlessly reductive and happy soul, if solitary in lieu of a terse stretch. For the 4:43 we’re listening to this song (or the 5:16 of the live track above), we vicariously exist as James does: With complete, unchecked lack of restrictions.

Kris Kristopherson wrote, and Janis Joplin legendary sang, with the aim of “freedom is specifically an extra word in lieu of nothing missing to lose.” And that’s the difference, accurate near. We for ever and a day state something to lose — various attachment we’re desperate to bear on to. We love “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” not for the reason that of its romanticism or its melancholy. We love it for the reason that we love the out of the question view of could you repeat that? James is: A way we’ll by no means be.

Structural Drawing- An Important Formula For Structural Engineers

Structural engineers are using formulas related to material properties to design structure. One of the most important formulas is Structural Drawing. Connections, Reinforcing, Locations and dimensions can be measured by using Structural Drawings. Contractors and builders are using this technique to maintain component in proper sequence. In other term it becomes a language to make communication between structural engineers and contractor/builders.

The details of objects like beams and columns can be designed by using structural drawings. It is a crucial technique used in various constructions like buildings, ships, tunnels, sky scrapers, bridges and infrastructure projects. Execution of structural drawing is done by professional structural Draftsman. Draftsmen are generally working under structural engineers. Basic sketches of any structure are provided by engineer. A draftsman is a person who converts that sketches in CAD Designs.

In the present time professional draftsmen are using 2D and 3D technology to make accurate structural drawings. Shop drawing and Fabrication Drawing is an important part of it.

Shop drawing can be defined as pictorial representation of building components used in construction. Elevation Dimensions and Measurements are important aspects of shop drawings.

Shop Drawing has various types described as below:
2D Shop Drawings
2D Columns Shop Drawings
Structural Steel Shop Drawings
2D Cabinets Shop Drawings
Fabrication Shop Drawings

Fabrication drawings are made after review of design drawings and specifications. Structural steel fabrication drawings include anchor setting plan, bill of materials, field and shop bolt summary and connection details.

Types of Fabrication Drawings that include:
Customized Steel Fabrication Drawings
Shop Fabrication Drawings
Sheet Metal Fabrication Drawings
Erection Drawings
